Statute review panel invites suggestions

NEW DELHI: The Constitution Review Commission has sought suggestions from the public and non-governmental organisations regarding likely changes in the 50 year-old document.

The Commission headed by former Supreme Court chief justice M N Venkatachaliahhas said that the suggestions should not disturb the basic feature of the Constitution.

Earlier, the Commission identified 10 areas which require immediate attention. It is also finalising broad questionnaires which will later be released for public opinion and suggestions.

The suggestions by members of the public, non-governmental organisations, institutions and others interested have to be sent by July 31 to the Commission's secretary or at its web site http://ncrwc@nic.in, and e-mail address ncrwc.nic.in. (TOINS)
